چکیده

The modern queueing theory is one of the powerful tools for a quantitative and qualitative analysis of communication systems, computer networks, transportation systems, and many other technical systems. In this paper, we deal with approximations of multiphase queueing systems (tandem queues, queues in series). Multiphase queueing systems are of special interest both in theory and in practical applications (message switching systems, processes of conveyor production, retransmission of video images, etc.). In this paper, the theorems have been proved on the law of the iterated logarithm (LIL) for departure flows of customers served under various heavy traffic conditions in multiphase queueing systems. Approximations for Multi-Class Departure Processes

The exact analysis of a network of queues with multiple products is, in general, prohibited because of the non-renewal structure of the arrival and departure processes. Two-moment approximations (decomposition methods, Whitt [9]) have been successfully used to study these systems. The performance of these methods, however, strongly depends on the quality of the approximations used to compute th...

Towards Better Multi-class Parametric-decomposition Approximations for Open Queueing Networks

Methods are developed for approximately characterizing the departure process of each customer class from a multi-class single-server queue with unlimited waiting space and the firstin first-out service discipline. The model is Σ(GI i / GI i )/1 with a non-Poisson renewal arrival process and a non-exponential service-time distribution for each class. The methods provide a basis for improving par...

Characterizing the BMAP/MAP/1 Departure Process via the ETAQA Truncation1

We propose a family of finite approximations for the departure process of a BMAP/MAP/1 queue. The departure process approximations are derived via an exact aggregate solution technique (called ETAQA) applied to M/G/1-type Markov processes. The proposed approximations are indexed by a parameter , which determines the size of the output model as block levels of the M/G/1-type process. This output...

About the cumulative idle time in multiphase queues

The paper is designated to the analysis of queueing systems, arising in the network theory and communications theory (called multiphase queueing systems, tandem queues or series of queueing systems). Also we note that multiphase queueing systems can be useful for modelling practical multi-stage service systems in a variety of disciplines, especially on manufacturing (assembly lines), computer n...
